NOTE: The Intercollegiate Specialty
Examination in General Surgery consists of two parts.
The first part comprises a two hour multiple choice
paper and a further two hour paper using extended matching
questions. The second part is a clinical and oral
examination. Candidates are not allowed to take the
clinical and oral examination (part 2) unless they have
passed part 1.
The Higher Surgery Course does not at present offer
teaching directed specifically towards the MCQ and EMQ
papers though the course content will be relevant to
them. Candidates may choose to attend the course either
before sitting Part 1 or before sitting Part 2 as they
prefer.

Places on this course are Not allocated on a first
come first served basis as it is necessary to achieve
a balance between the numbers expressing different sub-specialty
interests. Full course members will therefore be selected
from amongst those who have applied by the closing date.
Any who are not allocated full places and any who apply
after the closing date will be offered places as observers,
space permitting.
