Overseas Students

St Matthews:
St Matthews medical students come to Whipps Cross University Hospital to complete their 46 weeks core rotations in GP, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. At the end of their core rotations, Whipps Cross provides them, if possible, with 30 weeks of electives. These electives can be done in departments such as Neurology, Radiology, Pathology etc.

Students also attend an extensive teaching and training programme developed by the faculty which include Grand Rounds, early morning meetings, ward rounds, clinics and 3 hours of dedicated Monday afternoon lectures.

We have 3 intakes of St Matthews students; January, May and August.

Medical Elective

We welcome elective students from other universities in the UK and overseas. This is a great opportunity t o come and learn alongside London medical students and enjoy the academic opportunities that Whipps Cross offers.

We aim to:

  • Foster diversity and enavle the potential of students to be realised through providing options for study at a world-class level in clinical practice.

Elective students are accepted for a total period of 2 - 8 weeks. There is a range of attachment on offer. THis is subject to consultant of area availability.
